2019 – present
The "SOIL" series is divided into one main series of works made from earth and natural objects and several interrelated mini-series.
[1.] "SOIL" is a series of objects made from natural, found materials: earth, sand,
[2.] clay, wood, rust. These elements, usually overlooked and imbued with utilitarian or negative connotations, are transformed in the works
into carriers of aesthetic experience.
Placed in an artistic context, familiar materials begin to be perceived differently – as textures, colors, volumes, and images. However, they do not physically change: the transformation occurs solely through attention and the gesture of choice. This makes the project a statement about the flexibility of perception and the ability to see value in the "unsightly."
The works are assembled from materials found in their natural habitats. Each one becomes a kind of "landscape portrait," referencing specific locations—be it the beaches of Iceland or the sandy shores of the Kuril Islands. Viewers can recognize their own memories, experiences, and fragments of personal contact with the natural environment in these structures.
There are 14 works available.
[3.] "EARTH WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF ART" is a mini-series in which the artist ironically rethinks the seriousness and formality of "high art." In these works, he places natural materials—earth, sand, clay, and wood—in an artistic context, raising questions about the boundaries of art and perception.
